TAICO Monitor: technical specifications

Everything about the box, its software and the free Cloud, on one page, for your TAICO battery.

  • 1.8"colour screen
  • < 0.5 WUSB-C 5 V
  • 2.4 GHzWi-Fi
  • RJ45RS485 / CAN
  • Read-onlynever writes
  • 2 yearswarranty

TAICO batteries carry many homes and shops through daily power cuts. The inverter shows a percentage; the BMS inside knows much more: every cell, the temperature, the cycles, the alarms. The box reads that BMS directly on a free RS485 port and keeps a history, so you know how the battery is ageing and how many hours it really gives you.

The link between battery and inverter stays untouched. The box only reads.

Your appliances run on the sun, by themselves

TAICO Monitor tells Home Assistant when the battery fills up and when it runs low. Four simple rules, and the washing machine, the water heater and the car use your sun instead of the grid. Watch a day:

Simulation of a sunny day for a house with 5 kWp of panels, a 10 kWh battery, a car that needs 10 kWh and a water heater. The energy delivered to each appliance is the same in both scenarios; only the timing changes. Your figures depend on your system, your tariff and the weather.

    Technical questions

    Does it need Ethernet?

No. The box connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. The RJ45 socket is for the cable to your equipment, not for a network.

Can it run on a power bank or a 12 V system?

Yes, with any USB-C source: a power bank, a car-style 12 V to USB adapter or a phone charger. It draws under 0.5 W.

How far can the box be from the Wi-Fi router?

As far as a phone still gets a good 2.4 GHz signal. If the spot is weak, a simple Wi-Fi repeater does the job.

    Does it get firmware updates?

Yes. A new version installs from the box’s Update page in a few clicks, and your settings are kept.
